www.schoolsatsomerhill.comAfter Assertis successfully launched the new website for The Schools at Somerhill in September 2007, strengthening Assertis' online presence in the schools and education sector, we have continued to help the school to keep there website right up to date. We are carrying out ongoing staff training on the Wasabi Content Management System, of which a key requirement during development was that different staff members should be able to edit different parts of the website depending on their privileges. Therefore staff can edit different parts of the website, with overall control managed by a small team of senior staff!
This ongoing relationship between Assertis and Schools at Somerhill has attracted praise from staff, parents and governors. "Assertis were easy to work with and guided us through every stage from initial planning, through design concepts and creating content to eventual launch. They really couldn't have been more helpful" commented Malcolm Gough, Director of Studies.
The Schools at Somerhill is collectively, the largest independent preparatory school in Kent with over 600 fee-paying pupils and over 100 staff. Based near Tonbridge in a Grade I listed building, there are three schools on the one site – Yardley Court School for boys, Derwent Lodge School for girls, and Somerhill Pre-Prep for both boys and girls – each with their own Head Teacher. A Principal oversees The Schools at Somerhill collectively.
Working together with the senior staff, other staff and pupils, Assertis helped plan and launch the new website including a flexible calendar, news, extensive image galleries, and a wide range of curriculum and other information for current and prospective parents and pupils.
The website also incorporates a calendar – incorporating filtering of events or fixtures, and which integrates with external applications – extensive sports results, news updates and a Flash virtual tour of the schools. There is also a parental login area to access course-work and other information.
The website is fully accessible and complies with the latest web standards to ensure that visitors have the same experience whatever browser and operating system they are using.
