Rail Industry website Design and Marketing
The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC)
ATOC is the central co-ordination point for all 25 UK train operating companies. With an annual turnover of over £80m, it employs over 200 people in the UK and India.
Assertis worked with the ATOC team to redesign and relaunch their media website, which contains over 2,500 press releases from both the UK passenger train companies and ATOC.
The most recent press releases are also available via a mobile version (best viewed on a mobile or PDA), and the content has been optimised to rank well on search engines. A full text search facility allows complete searching of all documents and files on the site.
All of the content of the website can be updated by the ATOC team through a secure hosted Web Content Management System.
Wrexham & Shropshire
Wrexham & Shropshire is Britain's newest open access passenger rail operator, and expects to start running services from Wrexham, via Shrewsbury, Telford and Tame Bridge Parkway, to London from spring 2008.
Assertis designed and developed a content-managed website which acts as a holding site until a new website – including online booking of train tickets, journey planning and live departure boards for stations along the route – launches early in 2008. Customers will have the option to have tickets delivered to their mobiles or email addresses with barcodes, introducing the first truly m-ticket rail service in the UK.
A special mobile alert service will also keep customers informed about their journey before and during the journey, as well as asking for their feedback afterwards.
As with all public websites the site is fully compliant with accessibility requirements. The site also includes a Content Management System so that all content can be updated by the Wrexham & Shropshire team.
First Class Partnerships (FCP)
FCP, with whom Assertis has been working since 2002, is one of the UK's leading rail consultancies.
In August 2007 Assertis launched the new redesigned and updated First Class Partnerships' website. The new site includes more content about what FCP does, and develops on an already active rail news, views and opinions section.
The visual design has been completely refreshed, and the new site has been launched with a secure Web Content Management System enabling the client to update their site 24 hours a day.
FCP has won considerable new business through the website, as a result of its ranking highly on search engines for key phrases.
