Videos and podcasts will bring your school’s website to life!
With the rise of Youtube and the BBC’s iPlayer, video is becoming commonplace these days.
A well put together video clip will enable the voice of your school – its ethos, values, and unique points – to be put across in ways that are engaging and that will interest visitors more than ‘ordinary’ web pages.
You could use video, for instance, for a clip of the headteacher, several clips from different pupils, or some wider shots of daily life. All will immediately get across what your school is like, and how it differs from other schools.
You might also want to have one or two ‘main’ video clips – linked to from the home page – but many more work video clips, showcasing particular projects and linked to from study pages. Whilst a video on the home page needs to be of professional quality, other video clips can have a slightly more ‘raw’ aspect to them. As a result you can keep adding video content without incurring any additional costs.
Podcasts – audio clips to most people – are easier to make, but are best used to showcase work or even provide the weekly newsletter read out online. Students are often very keen to get involved in both podcast and video production too.
